This exhibition proposal book was created as my Senior Thesis project. It explores the correlation between two events that occurred in Philadelphia in 1964; the race riots of Columbia Avenue and the infamous collapse of the 1964 Philadelphia Phillies' season. The book details a hypothetical exhibit, complete with information graphics, archival newspaper clippings, a documentary, and an interactive timeline of events, to be held at the underground concourse beneath Center City Philadelphia.
Brace Face is a collection of various print compositions that tell a first person narrative of a traumatic event from my childhood in which I was knocked unconscious during a baseball game. Through experimental typography, metaphorical and symbolic imagery, and color theory, each composition depicts the same story in a unique way.
Drawing inspiration from both traditional and modern sans-serif typefaces such as Franklin Gothic and Bebas Neue, Horace falls into the category of a condensed, bold or black style typeface. Ideal for signage and display, Horace works best when set at a large scale, and has the ability to quickly communicate its message to viewers through its easily legible bold letterforms. Its versatility makes the typeface ideal for editorial and print layouts, a factor that is an attribute to its name, Horace; after my grandfather Horace B. Barks, who was a renown writer, journalist, and publisher.
A study on Morris Fuller Benton's Franklin Gothic typeface, done in the form of a 27" x 48" poster.
As part of my Forgetting '64 exhibition, I created a series of three 20" x 30" information graphics that provide statistics for three categories: North Philadelphia in 1964, The 1964 Philadelphia Phillies' season, and the 1964 race riots of Columbia Avenue. I then created a fourth poster that combines all three categories into one information graphic.

A three-panel composition that explores the topic of individuality, particularly focusing on the physical attributes of the human race that make each person unique. Through ee cummings' poem "If", as well as information graphics with statistics regarding plastic surgery, the composition promotes self acceptance and the notion that our "flaws" are what make us who we are as individuals.

A concert poster for jazz pianist Thelonious Monk. Drawing from 1950s style design, I attempted to capture the feel of the typefaces used at the time by hand-drawing a bold display face to be used for the artist's name.
A video that chronicles the numerous activist groups that stood for social change in 1960s America, shown through archival interviews and imagery.
Portion of a collaborative project to create a book detailing aspects of American politics throughout history. I was assigned with creating a timeline section for each of the four chapters; Campaign, Activism, Economy, and Media.
